Greetings chapter members and friends! Welcome to the official website of Theta Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. I am honored to serve as the chapter President and we invite you to explore our site.
As faithful members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® the Progressive Ladies of Inglewood & Los Angeles County are dedicated to service and sisterhood. Since our chartering in 1966 we have worked hard to enrich the lives of the residents in Inglewood/Los Angeles, CA. We value collaborations and partnerships that assist us in furthering this mission. Our membership consists of over 129 extraordinary, dedicated professional women, who are committed to continuing quality service to our community.
We will continue to initiate activities virtually that create opportunities for success with a particular focus in service areas under the leadership of our International President, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover.
Through the international program Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service, we will execute programming in the following target areas:
Target 1: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action–The focus is on education with an emphasis on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Promote and market Historically Black Colleges and Universities and encourage students to
#CAP(College Admission Process)–assist students as they seek admission to college by providing guidance and support in completing the application and enrollment process.
Target 2: Women’s Healthcare and Wellness-Raise community awareness of critical health issues impacting African American women. The primary focuses will be breast cancer awareness and prevention, heart health, nutrition and wellness, and care for the caregivers.
Target 3: Building Your Economic Legacy-emphasizes financial planning, asset accumulation, and wealth-building including savings and investment, managing debt, and improving credit.
Target 4: The Arts!-Expose students to arts enrichment and culture by focusing on visual and performing arts and by showcasing talent through the exploration of writers, entertainers, and various other artists.
Target 5: Global Impact–Designed to enhance the international footprint of the sorority by engaging in community service projects with an international impact. Engage in global partnerships to provide assistance to the underserved in international areas.
