The Theta Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., also known as The Progressive Ladies of Inglewood and Los Angeles County was chartered on December 18, 1966. In keeping with National Office guidelines, this group, with Eugenia Scott as president and Laura Banks, as Regional Director, conducted the chartering. Fifty-two members were part of this chartering ceremony and became Charter Members of Theta Mu Omega Chapter. Subsequently, the chapter has more than doubled its membership. It has also spawned the organization and chartering of three alumni chapters, Mu Beta Omega, Mu Lambda Omega, Sigma Lambda Omega, and two undergraduate chapters one at U. C. Irvine and one at U.C. Santa Barbara.

We are continuing the legacy of our Fifty-Two Charter Members.

Theta Mu Omega has won both International and Regional awards over the years; We place high emphasis on health, education, and community service. Our dynamic membership is united in sisterhood with experiences that range from sisters who are new members of the organization to the sisters who have more than 50 years of service all of whom have committed themselves to the work of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
